Poor vision is the world’s number one unaddressed disability, with 2.5 billion people worldwide not having adequate access to proper vision care.
On February 7, 2019, Clearly had the honour of volunteering at the HomeGround Festival to help bring better vision to the community as a part of our Change The View initiative.
What is the HomeGround Festival?
The HomeGround Festival is an event that is hosted outdoors in Oppenheimer Park in Vancouver on an annual basis to help provide a wide range of services – ones which we often take for granted – to underprivileged and low-income individuals.
These services include tax preparation, eye exams, hearing tests, pet care services, haircuts, and more.
Clearly’s Commitment to the Community
As a part of our Change the View initiative, we are committed to providing better vision and free glasses to those who may otherwise not have access to such necessities due to financial constraints or other reasons. This includes local community events and low-income schools.
At the HomeGround Festival, we were joined by fellow service providers to help individuals in the Vancouver Downtown Eastside area.
We provided community members with free reading glasses and sunglasses to help shield their eyes from the sun on this bright, yet incredibly cold, day. Despite this year’s chilly weather, though, our spirits and hearts were warmed by the act of helping others.
Improving Lives by Improving Sight Worldwide
In addition to Change the View, Clearly also helps transform lives with our Buy One, Give One initiative. As a loyal customer, you are also helping us with this journey as well.
For every glasses order, we will donate a pair of glasses to someone in need and the donation will go to a country of your choosing after you’ve placed your order.
As of December of 2018, we’ve already donated approximately 280,000 pairs of glasses worldwide. We look forward to this upcoming year and we can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store for us!
