Since 2013, Doctor of Optometry Justin Asgarpour has been working with Clearly to deliver high-quality eye care to people living in British Columbia. Passionate about eye health and dedicated to improving his patients’ eyesight, he is always happy to share his experience and vast eye knowledge as a professional, to help make eye care accessible to a larger audience.

Dr. Asgarpour’s commitment to eye care
Dr. Asgarpour graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Chemistry minoring in Physics and Biochemistry. He then moved to Boston, where he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the renowned New England College of Optometry, before returning to Canada to start his own practice.
Asgarpour Optometry (AO)
Before joining forces with Clearly, Dr. Asgarpour launched one of Canada’s first ophthalmology-optometry co-managed clinics, enabling him and his team to treat and manage a multitude of patients from routine exams to acute urgent cases. He is also the first optometrist to launch an optometry clinic partnered with an e-commerce business in Canada (Clearly).
Along with his two associates, Justin works at Asgarpour Optometry (AO)~ optometry clinics that are dedicated to offering comprehensive eye exams. Their services include:

- Geriatrics
- Pre- & post-operative care
- Contact lens fitting
- Binocular vision assessment
- Sports vision
- Ocular disease diagnosis and treatment
Equipped with top of the line diagnostic equipment, and retinal imaging, one of Dr. Asgarpour’s goals is to invest in quality infrastructure to ensure his customers’ eye health is preserved and maintained.

Dr. Asgarpour’s involvement in the field of optometry goes beyond the scope of his daily practice.
Passionate about the quality of eye care services in British Columbia, he has actively volunteered with the College of Optometrists of British Columbia since 2015, serving Chairperson and currently residing as Vice Chair.
With the College, he is now working to develop policies and programs to elevate the proficiency and effectiveness of optometrists in BC.
Improving access to eye care
Dr. Asgarpour is keen on teaching the public about the importance of eye exams, and the role Optometrists play in preserving vision and overall health. His main goal is to improve his patients’ lives and make sure their eyes are healthy and happy.
It’s clear, there’s a need for his professional help –1 out of 7 individuals in Canada has a condition which may cause blindness, such as macular degeneration (one of the biggest drains on the healthcare system). The good news is that 75% of blindness is preventable through routine eye health exams.
The role of optometrists is to preserve patients’ eye health by preventing diseases that can cause vision loss from progressing in the first place. Optometrists like Dr. Asgarpour work to prevent eye damage and diseases that can cause blindness, in addition to ensuring that patients’ eyesight is optimized. The eyes also serve as ‘windows to the body’, allowing the Optometrist the ability to get a glimpse of the overall health of their patients through an examination of the eyes.
In addition to his optometry practice, Dr. Asgarpour provides valuable support to Clearly’s Vision Ambassador team as he is passionate about sharing the importance of preventative eye health and maintaining a regular eye exam schedule to ensure healthy eyes.
He also regularly participates in our Change the View projects, which aim to provide visually impaired individuals around the world with prescription glasses and UV protection sunglasses, as well as eye health education.
