For a few (far too short) months a year, Clearly is lucky enough to host interns from the country’s best universities.
They work closely with teams across the business and learn how the cogs turn here at Canada’s biggest online eyewear store. Meanwhile, we get to benefit from their brainpower, creativity, and spark as they help us complete all sorts of projects.
They bring fresh insight and energy into the mix. They ask questions that challenge the status quo. And they make our office parties even more fun.
We’ve spent the summer telling them all about how things work at Clearly – and now it’s the interns’ turn to tell us how they see things.
Get to know the amazing team and take a peek into life at Clearly.

What’s your fave part of interning at Clearly?
Going into the office and seeing a 360° view of Vancouver. The social events that Clearly throws are also unbeatable.
What’s something you wish you could have told yourself at the start?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions and be curious. Someone at Clearly said to me that no question is ever a bad question.
What’s something Clearly has taught you? And what have YOU taught Clearly?
Clearly taught me that having a strong team culture really goes great lengths and makes work not feel like work. One thing that I think I taught Clearly was the importance of being involved at company events and having fun!
What’s a hot tip you can give future interns?
Be open to taking on challenges that might seem a bit daunting at first. You’ll learn so much in the end.

What’s your fave part of interning at Clearly?
I wish I didn’t have to choose a favourite because there are so many!! But if I HAD to choose, I’d say that my favourite part of interning at Clearly is the people, because they’ve made everything so great which is the reason why it’s so hard choosing.
My supervisor, Laura, who has been so gracious, awfully humble, and inspires me with her hard work; Victoria, who came to Clearly around the same time as me, and made me feel super comfortable and was always open to any questions I had; Alessandro, who was always so kind and happy to explain everything about anything; Brittany, who was really great at giving clear instructions for any task; Negar, who checked in on me and always entered the room with a smile; and Harjot, who I’ve only seen through a screen, but made sure to say hi every time we did see each other.
What’s something you wish you could have told yourself at the start?
I wish I told myself to really enjoy the onboarding process of meeting people and learning all the logistics, because once that’s over, things start picking up fast.
What’s something Clearly has taught you? And what have YOU taught Clearly?
Clearly has taught me everything there is to know about glasses! I now know more than I had ever asked for about different materials, features, processes that go into making each frame, as well as all different types of lenses and what each number that can be found on a prescription means.
What’s a hot tip you can give future interns?
Definitely volunteer for all the different Clearly for Community events. It’s wonderful to see Clearly’s impact in person, and a great way to learn more about navigating the website during a purchase.

What’s your fave part of interning at Clearly?
Being able to create some new, creative and exciting everyday at work! I was lucky enough to be on the Brand Team and to work specifically with Oshai, who made sure that my creative ideas were heard and seen through.
Having such a supportive supervisor who pushes you to explore your inventiveness helped me so much in having such a positive internship experience!
What’s something you wish you could have told yourself at the start?
Don’t be afraid to voice your thoughts to the room, even if it might scare you at first!
What’s something Clearly has taught you? And what have YOU taught Clearly?
Clearly taught me the value of being a team player. In many facets, Clearly is a company that champions working together, and helping one another when possible (especially when I need to film TikToks)! I think this culture is something that all companies should strive towards.
What’s a hot tip you can give future interns?
Take advantage of the office! I know it’s tempting to work from home, but it’s so much easier to form connections in office. As well, the 360 view of Downtown Vancouver is INCREDIBLE, so it’s worth the commute.

What’s your fave part of interning at Clearly?
The people for sure! I’ve loved my time here at Clearly and the main reason for that has to be my co-workers.
During my time at Clearly I felt extremely supported by both my manager and my peers and was constantly given the ability to push myself to learn more.
The team also prioritized my learning and was really open to receiving feedback on how best they can help make my internship a better one!
What’s something you wish you could have told yourself at the start?
Savor every little moment because it’s going to go back so fast! I can’t believe that my internship is almost over and I wish I was more present and proactive in taking advantage of all the fun little socials and work parties that the Clearly team organizes.
Not only did I miss out on tons of free food and drinks but I also missed out on making some everlasting memories.
What’s something Clearly has taught you? And what have YOU taught Clearly?
Clearly has taught me to really approach business from a customer obsessed standpoint, because at the end of the day, the business exists to serve them!
I like to think I taught Clearly to drop a few jokes or add some showmanship to presentations to keep them lively and fun!
What’s a hot tip you can give future interns?
If you don’t know, ask, and if you still don’t know, keep asking! Everyone on the team is here to help you and they are great resources to turn to.
There were many times during my internship, I found myself in brand new territory and I was really glad I reached out to my co-workers as they were really able to help guide and teach me how to navigate any and all challenges that came my way.
Which glasses are your favourite?
The Ray-Ban RB7140-49 because they just look so elegant while still maintaining a functional aesthetic!
So there you have it: be willing to get involved in new projects, work together as a team, and take up space in the room to voice your ideas – we’ve learned a lot from our amazing interns. We wish them all the best with the rest of their studies, and we hope to see them down the road.
